Donna Sherrell Proffitt of Opelika, Alabama, was born in Gadsden, Alabama, on Oct. 5, 1941, to the late Jerome Sherrell and Conola Smith, and passed away on Feb. 12, 2021, at the Bethany House in Auburn. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Proffitt was predeceased by her son, Wayne Proffitt, Jr., and her grandson, Ben Bentley.
Mrs. Proffitt is survived by the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Wayne Proffitt, Sr.; daughter, Kim Taylor (David); granddaughters, Brook Peavy (Jimmy), Kelly Proffitt and her fiancé, Tyler, and Kathryn Todd (Dalton). She is also survived by great-granddaughters, Bennett Peavy, and Emma and Ella Todd.

Visitation was held in the Parlor at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Feb. 16, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
The funeral service followed in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home, at 1 p.m. Interment followed at Auburn Memorial Park cemetery in Auburn, with Alex Howell officiating.
