Dewey Levi Simmons, 72, was born on May 9, 1949 and passed away on July 28, 2021 at Bethany House in Auburn.

Mr. Simmons worked for Uniroyal for 25 years and then continued his career as a driver with Thompson Carriers for another 25 years. Mr. Simmons was a loving son, brother, uncle, father and Pawpaw. He lived by family, friends, fishing and football. Lake Martin was his home away from home and he was the biggest Alabama fan this side of the Mississippi River. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his closest canine companions, Dinky and Sushi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Simmons and Myrtle Cannon Simmons.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his daughter, Billie Sue Scurnopoli, and his sister Cathy Simmons. He was blessed with three grandchildren Braden Dubose (Elizabeth), Caitlin Mathes (Kody) and Ashton Scurnopoli. He had three great-grandchildren as well; Declan Levi Dubose, Heidi Kate Mathes and Jett Mathes. He also leaves behind a nephew, Billy Hall and two nieces, Leslie Cooper and Lisa Forte.

Visitation was held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home.
