In the afternoon of Jan. 18, 2021, Curtis Thomas Rudd left this earthly world doing one of the things he loved most-he had just shot his last deer. We are sure he thanked Jesus when he got to Heaven for letting him get in one last hunt. We will miss him so much! He was born in Opelika to Ira Houston and Mattie Kittrell Rudd on May 27, 1935. He was the baby of nine children.

Curtis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He put God and his family first and loved his dear Joyce and provided for her always. He was one of the most honest and trustworthy men that you would ever meet. He never met a stranger and helping others was his most accomplished feat. He was an excellent carpenter and salesman and worked hard all his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ira H. Rudd; mother, Mattie Kittrell Rudd; brothers, Jack (Susie) Rudd, Clarence Rudd, Jimmy (Irene) Rudd; sisters, Mattie Lee (Vernon) Brewer, Mary Smith, Bertha (Ed) May, and Ruth Rudd; father-in-law, Joe D. Allen; mother-in-law, Evie Jennings Allen; brother-in-law, Charles Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Allen Rudd; sons, Wayne (Donna) Rudd, Steve Rudd, Don (Mary) Rudd, Darren (Rhonda) Rudd; daughters, Judy (Hal) Sellers and Rose (Mark) Price; grandchildren, Jeremy Sellers, Brittany (Matt) Evans, Gary (Amy) Rudd, Emily (Jordan) Davidson, Josh (Crystal) Rudd, Adam Rudd, Wesley Rudd, Curt (Amanda) Rudd, Justin (Dakota) Rudd, Lori (Jordan) Strickland, Jordan (Kyra) Price, and Steadman Rudd; 23 great-grandchildren; his best friend, Jerry (Lee Ann) Pinkard; brother, Robert (Bessie) Rudd; sister-in-law, Elvene Rudd; sisters-in-law, Terry (Harry) Biering, Laverne (Johnny) Manning, Phyllis Vinson, Judy Kay Allen; brothers-in-law, Billy (Sandra) Allen and Phillip Allen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews he loved.

A funeral service was held in the Chapel at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home on Jan. 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Vance McCollum officiating. Interment followed at Garden Hills Cemetery.
