Frank W. Jones 1950-2012
Frank W. Jones, age 62, of Opelika, died on July 11, at East Alabama Medical Center. His graveside service was held on July 15, at 2 p.m. in Rosemere Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Jones is survived by his mother, Dorothy Kenney of Dadeville; one sister, Dianne (S.J.) Segrest of Loachapoka; one nephew, Noah Segrest of Auburn and a special care giver, Monique Barber of Opelika.
Jones was a lifelong resident of Opelika. He was a disabled Army veteran and had been employed by the Lee County Transportation Department as an equipment operator for 10 years. Prior to that, he was employed by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department for several years. Frank was an avid motorcyclist.

Minnie Carter Brooks
1921-2012
A funeral service for Minnie Carter Brooks, 91, of Lawrenceville, Ga. and formerly of West Point, was held at 2 p.m. on July 14, 2012 at Peterson and Williams Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Elijah McLaughlin officiated.
Brooks passed away on Friday, June 29, at Gwinnett Medical Center. She was a member of Christ Supernatural Center in Lanett. Her husband, Rev. James Brooks, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Ivy Brooks, Long Island, N.Y.; one granddaughter, Jayne (Reginald) James, Montgomery; one grandson, Philip Brooks, Long Island, N.Y.; three great grandsons, Jourdan McLaughlin, Elijah McLaughlin and Juan McFarland II all of Montgomery; one great granddaughter, Philia Brooks, Montgomery; host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Frank Comer Jr. 1939-2012
A funeral service for Frank Comer Jr., 73, of Opelika, was held at 1 p.m. on July 14, at Bethel No. II Missionary Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Billy Drakes officiated.
Comer passed on July 9, 2012, at Parkwood Health Care in Phenix City. He was a member of Bethel No. II Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Senior Usher Board and participated in Intercessory Prayer.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Comer, Opelika; one daughter, Debbie (Randall) Sanders, Phenix City; three grandchildren, Kesha Freeman, Amaad Dowdell and Christopher Berry all of Opelika; three great grandchildren, Casino Freeman, Jayden Dowdell and Tamarion Berry; four sisters, Olivia (Samuel) Jones, Peekskill, N.Y., Betty (Lionel) White, College Park, Ga., Barbara (Franklin) Parker and Martha Chaney both of Union City, Ga.; five brothers, A.C. Comer, Pensacola, Fla., Willie Comer, White Plains, N.Y., Raymond Comer, Opelika, John Gordy, Indianapolis, Ind. and Shack Fitzpatrick, Tuskegee; an aunt, Helen Pruitt, Opelika; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
