The Community Foundation of East Alabama awarded three nonprofits in the East Alabama Region for its 2021 Mini-Grant Program. The organizations that were selected are Redeeming Grace Ministries in Lanett, The Exodus Ranch in Opelika and Twin Cedars Child Advocacy Center in Opelika. Each organization received a check in the amount of $500, to go towards general operating support. Todd Rauch, the vice president of the Community Foundation of East Alabama said, “this type of grant is designed to be flexible and gives the grantee’s the ability to use the funds where they best see fit.”
This is the second year in a row that the Community Foundation received a record number of applications from non-profits across the East Alabama region since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Nonprofits have been heavily affected since many rely on donations and volunteer support from the public,” Rauch said. “We want to take every opportunity to make sure nonprofits in the East Alabama Region have the tools they need to succeed.”
The goal of the Community Foundation is to encourage generous donors within East Alabama to establish donor-advised funds to help create a grant review process that distributes grants several times a year. “We want to build our grant making program to create a seamless process between establishing a fund for any need you want to support in the community and connecting those donors to non-profits that help support or service that need,” said Dr. Fred Kam, chairman of the Board of the Community Foundation of East Alabama.
