Our Opelika Chiefs ran their season’s record to 6-0 with a 36-22 win over the previously undefeated and second-ranked Capital City Cobras from Tallahassee last Saturday night at Beulah High School Stadium. Their win, coupled with the defeat of last week’s no. 1, the Metro Atlanta Horsemen, propelled the Chiefs into the no. 1 slot in the league’s rankings.  The Horsemen will be the Chiefs final regular season opponent on May 14. To show you the scope of the APDFL, the no. two team is the Oklahoma City Bounty Hunters and #3 is the Louisiana Lightning.
On a night when QB Kyle Caldwell’s passing was a little off, the Chiefs’ running attack, with Latrell Jenkins, TJ Griffin and Tracy Brooks, picked up the slack, along with the Chiefs’ great defense. The Cobras actually led, 22-20, early in the third quarter, before the Chiefs pulled away for the win.
The Chiefs are on the road this week, traveling to Panama City, Fla., to take on the Florida Saints. Go Chiefs!
