The Opelika Chiefs won their fifth straight game of the season last Saturday and now take on the APDFL’s #2 team, the Capital City Cobras of Tallahassee, Fla. this Saturday at Beulah High School Stadium. The Chiefs beat the Alabama Rottweilers handily, 63 – 0, to go 5-0 for the season.
The upcoming game, which will be played at Beulah High School Stadium at 7 p.m. (Central Time) Saturday will be the first real test for both teams which have identical 5-0 records. The Cobras and the Chiefs have had only one common opponent, the Alabama Blackhawks. The Cobras won their game 18-6 while the Chiefs triumphed 23-6.
So, all indications are that Saturday night could be a real barn-burner.
This game may provide the most entertaining sports event of the year for this area. The price is only $10, there’s free parking and the stadium is only 15 minutes from downtown Opelika.
Chiefs’ MVPs for the Rottweilers game were TJ Griffin for the offense and Rod Marshall for the defense.
Griffen carried the ball five times for 58 yards and three TDs as his contribution to the Chiefs’ 388 yards of total offense.
Marshall, a defensive lineman, had five individual tackles and 2.5 sacks to help the Chiefs’ defense that created a turnover and held the Rottweilers’ offense to a negative four yards of total offense for the night.
See you at Beulah Saturday night!
