The Community Foundation of East Alabama is celebrating its third annual Opelika Giving Day on Wednesday, May 5. The application deadline for Opelika Giving Day is March 31.

On the application, organizations are required to list the organization name, project title and leaders, a summary of the project, how the project benefits the Opelika community or its citizens, the project start and end date, the goal amount and the project budget.

Opelika Giving Day is a 24-hour online fundraising event that supports local non-profits who are making a difference in the community.

“Opelika Giving Day started two years ago in 2018,” said CFEA Vice President Todd Rauch. “It is a 24-hour online fundraising event where we select usually about 10 nonprofits in the city of Opelika, and we not only help them fundraise towards a goal for a project that they may have on their list within their organization, but we also provide training opportunities before Opelika Giving Day to help make their organization more sustainable and successful after Opelika Giving Day ends.”

During the month leading up to May 5, they provide training for the organizations. They teach them how to create and promote ads on Facebook, schedule posts and provide the organization a list of everyone who donates, so they can keep in contact, Rauch said. They help them and teach them how to be a successful organization.
