Building construction continues at Opelika High School. The front parking lot should be completed within the next week. Inside the building, Main Street looks different. It is dirt. The floor has been dug up and the back of the north part of the school is gone. The area at the end of Main Street, the kitchen and the wing beside the kitchen has been knocked down.

This will be where the first part of the new construction starts. Construction continues on the school and outside where the portable classrooms are located. They are finishing this area so it will be ready for students Aug. 20.

OHS Football

The football team continues to workout everyday. The team lifts weights and works on conditioning.

Coach Brian Blackmon said it looks like we will play Carver Saturday September 21 at 7 p.m. at Crampton Bowl in Montgomery. Blackmon has been trying to convince Coach Parrish to move the game to Opelika and play on Friday night and we would travel to Carver next year. He offered to split the gate if the game were played in Opelika, but “no” was the answer.

You can still join the Corporate Sponsor plan. Please call me at (334) 319-0467 or call OHS at (334) 745-9715 and leave your name. The packages start at $500 and go up to $1,200.

Thank You

I wanted to give a special THANK YOU to WZMG 910 AM radio personality, Richard LaGrand, for asking his listeners to donate fans for people that do not have air- conditioned houses. Richard presents these fans to his listeners on a need basis.

Thank you, Richard!
