Anna Belle Merritt passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Bethany House from a glioblastoma- brain tumor at the age of seventy-one. Born June 16, 1950, and graduated from Glennville High School, of Glennville, Georgia. During the summer months she would peddle peaches with her father John Meeks.

She would marry Sgt. Taylor M. Merritt, Sr. of Lyons, Georgia and would be married for more than 53 years.

She would be employed by Dr. Wilbur New of Lyons, Amicita Home Heath; OBGYN of Opelika for more than 18 years, and was currently employed by the Orthopedic Clinic.

A born again Bible Believing Christian and an avid pianist who could read any music and loved to play in churches and perform specials for more than 40 years. Her character was kindness, helpfulness, graciousness, and could she cook homemade butter milk biscuits.

 Her wonderful family included Deandra Leigh Merritt; Hyatt and Taylor “Tate” Merritt, II (Amanda Harper); grandchildren Seth Mackinley (Tiffany) Merritt and Sara Mackenzie Hyatt (Seth Eason); great grandchildren Annistyn Blake Merritt and Mackinley Riggs Merritt.

A viewing was held at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home and Crematory on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. and a graveside service was conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. by Dr. Rusty Sowell.
