Auburn Area Community Theatre (AACT) will hold open auditions for Musical Theatre International’s “All Together Now!: A Global Event Celebrating Local Theatre.” Auditions for this musical revue will be held in timed slots from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14 and Thursday, Sept. 16 at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, located at 222 E. Drake Ave. in Auburn.

No previous experience necessary. Auditions for this production are open to performers 16 and older. Auditions will be casting for solo performances and ensemble performances, with the possibility of being cast for more than one performance. Some numbers may involve light choreography, but there will not be a dance portion of the audition.

Music Theatre International (MTI) is one of the world’s leading theatrical licensing agencies, granting theatres around the world the rights to perform the greatest selection of musicals from Broadway and beyond. COVID-19 has affected the livelihood of so many theaters, so MTI is providing the opportunity for schools and theatres worldwide to locally produce and perform an exclusive musical revue featuring 15 songs from MTI’s beloved shows as a way to fundraise. To date, there are more than 3,800 theaters participating in 36 countries and territories.

Those interested in auditioning should visit www.AuburnACT.org to sign up for a time slot on either Sept. 14 or 16. Be prepared with a song 2-4 minutes in length to sing for the directors. Please bring a music source, as there will not be a pianist to accompany you, or you may sing acapella. Call back auditions, by invitation only, will be Tuesday, Sept. 21.

AACT is also seeking set construction, props, tech and other volunteers for this production. Those interested in those positions are also welcome to come to auditions, or contact the director, Terry Kelley by e-mail at auditions@auburnact.org.

First rehearsal will be Sept. 27. Remaining rehearsals will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting on Sept. 28 and ending on Nov. 10. Performances will be Nov. 12 to 14.

Vocalists will not be required to attend every rehearsal but should expect to rehearse with the musical director(s) one to two times each week.

AACT is thrilled to be bringing so many great shows to our area this season. This season also offers many opportunities to get involved with AACT. AACT is a volunteer organization that depends on the time and energy of many wonderful people from within the community.
