Louise Gandy Price
1934-2015

Louise Gandy Price, 81, of Auburn passed away September 4, 2015 at Bethany House.  Born August 9, 1934 in Rockford, Alabama to Edward Lee Gandy and Clara Cowart Gandy, she moved with her mother to Lee County as a young girl following the death of her father.  She graduated from Opelika High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) and later a Masters of Education from Auburn University.  Following her graduation from Auburn, she married the love of her life, Paul Price, and they shared 55 wonderful years together until his death in 2010.
Louise loved children and taught school for more than 30 years, most of those in the Lee County system, retiring from Beauregard Elementary School.  She was an active member of Auburn United Methodist Church and belonged to the Joel McDavid Sunday School Class.  After her retirement she was also active in the East Alabama Medical Center Auxiliary, the Auburn Pilot Club and the Woman’s Club of Auburn.
In addition to her father and husband she was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Gandy, her brother Austin Gandy, her sister Audrey McGrady and an infant grandson.
She is survived by her son Randy Price (Oline) of Opelika; her daughter Pam Trau (Allan) of LaGrange, Georgia; grandsons Cameron Price of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Hunter Price (Lisa) of Opelika and granddaughter Meg Trau (fiance Ray Serrano) of Boston, Massachusetts; and great-granddaughter Brooklyn Price, extended family members, and friends.
Services for Mrs. Price were held Tuesday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Founders Chapel of Auburn United Methodist Church with Dr. George Mathison officiating followed by a private burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation was held from 10:00 until 11:00 in Hamil Court adjacent to the Chapel.
