Anne Elizabeth Goslin

Anne Goslin, born in Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 11, 1955, peacefully passed on Oct. 25, 2014, at University of Washington Medical Center after a long fight with Pulmonary Fibrous and Lung Transplant surgery. She resided in Tacoma, Wash.
Anne is predeceased by her parents, Dr. & Mrs. William E. Goslin, in 1987 and 2008 respectively. She is survived by her older sister Jane Goslin Burke & brother-in-law Bruce Burke of White Salmon, Wash.; younger twin brothers Dan Goslin, of Opelika, and Scott Goslin and sister-in-law Linda Goslin of Alexander City. She also leaves behind her niece and nephews: Jeremy Goslin and his wife Jennifer Fordham Goslin, Brad Goslin, Katie Goslin and Daniel Goslin.
Memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 5, at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel with the Rev. Bruce McClendon officiating.  Visitation was Thursday at 6 p.m. one hour prior to the service at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Ruth Tussey

Funeral service for Ruth Tussey, 84, of Auburn, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Parkway Baptist Church. Bro. Jeff Redmond officiated. Burial was held at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tussey passed away at Bethany House, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015. She was born April 19, 1930, in Kentucky.  She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, longtime faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church and an avid prayer warrior.
Mrs. Tussey is preceded in death by her husband Forrest Tussey; parents Taylor and Ora Hurt; sister Edwina Faye Storms; and granddaughters, Cathryn Elaine Waller and Amy Nicole Waller. Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (Ed) Waller and Donna (James) Bartley; two sons, Randall (Brigid) Tussey and Kenneth Gibson Tussey; grandchildren, Paris (Tyler) Tickle and Britnie Tomecko; great-grandchild, Payton Ruth Tickle; one brother, Russell (Joann) Hurt; special fuzzy children, Hope and Joy; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces and nephews.

Lois Bennett Kale

Funeral service for Lois Bennett Kale, 82, of Opelika was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church. Dr. Paul McCraken officiated.
Burial was held in Adel, Ga., at Crossroads Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 26, from 5-7 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kale passed away at her home Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. She was born March 1, 1932 in Sparks, Ga. She was a native of Adel, Ga., but she had lived most of her life in Andalusia and for the past 28 years in Opelika.
Mrs. Kale was a member of Pierce Chapel UMC where she was very active with the community luncheons and cake sales.
Mrs. Kale is preceded in death by her husband Paul Kale and grandson Matthew Kale. She is survived by her sons Wayne (Dianne) Kale of Opelika and Rick (Ruth) Kale of Jackson, Miss.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard (Linda) Bennett of Bainbridge, Ga.

Victor H. Aubuchon

Victor H. Aubuchon, 73, of Waverly, went home to be with his Lord on Feb. 19, during his respite stay at Bethany House. Pastor John Brogdon and Pastor Amanda Brogdon officiated the services.
Mr. Aubuchon was a dedicated truck driver for 42 years and a loving, Godly, caring husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his wife Faline of 34 years; daughters, Victoria (Richard) Beaudoine, Pauline Meadows, Sheree (Justin) Jorgensen, Aimee (Chris) Vermeer; sons Bobby (Candie) Hickey and Chad Griffith; cherished grandpa of 14 and great-grandpa of five; many nieces and nephews and beloved friends; and one brother, Rolland Aubuchon.

Janice Ham Saidla

Mrs. Janice Saidla, age 76, a resident of Auburn, passed away Feb. 28 at her home. She was born April 25, 1938, at Opelika Hospital in Opelika.
Visitation was held in the Mathison Lobby at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 2. A memorial service was held at Auburn United Methodist Church sanctuary at 11:30 a.m. Dr. George Mathison, the Rev. Charles Cummings and the Rev. Ferris Hardin officiated.
Mrs. Saidla is survived by her husband Dr. John Saidla of Auburn, son John Edward Saidla Jr. (Mary Lynn) of Auburn, daughter Corinne Grace Saidla of Oshkosh, Wis., and daughter Mary Catherine Person (Trevor) of Little Rock, Ark., granddaughter Anna McKenzie Saidla of Auburn, sister Corinne Barnes (Woodrow) of Smyrna, Ga., and their sons Hobson Barnes of London, England, and Wilbur Hutsell Barnes (April) and their daughters Isabel and Addison of San Antonio, Texas, brother Bill Ham Jr. (Carol) of Auburn and their son Forrest Ham (Kate) and their children Jennings and Will of Auburn, and daughter Ashley Peak (Owen) and their children Crawford and Jack of Selma. She was preceded in death by her father William Forrester Ham Sr., and mother Grace Waldrop Ham.
After their return from service in the Air Force in 1966 she taught Headstart in Opelika and then served as the administrator of the Auburn Veterinary Hospital, the veterinary practice of her husband, John.
In the 1970s she developed the Auburn Association of Parents of Children with Learning Disabilities, and she worked on many projects at Auburn United Methodist Church, including Chair of the Board of Trustees when she managed the renovation and asbestos removal in the Auburn United Methodist Church and the purchase of the Super Foods building, now Epworth Center.
Education was always important to Janice.  She helped develop a Montessori pre-school program for Auburn, and in 1978 she served as the Chair of the Board of Directors at Scott Academy and was involved in the merger and formation of Lee-Scott Academy.
After a move to Ithaca, N.Y., with her husband John, Janice was a health educator and coordinator of peer counselors in the Health Education Program at Cornell University.
Upon returning to Auburn in 2000, Janice served as Head of the MERCY outreach mission at AUMC that serves children and families in crisis.  In 2006 Janice, working with many others, founded the Christian Women’s Job Corps (CWJC) that trains women for gainful employment and is now starting its 16th class.  Since 2000 Janice served as a Commissioner for the Auburn Housing Authority.

Rosetta B. Simpkins

Funeral services for Rosetta B. Simpkins, 84, who passed away Sunday, March 1, in Hoover, was Wednesday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Pepperell Baptist Church in Opelika, with burial in Garden Hills Cemetery. The Revs. Paul Moore and Mike Newman officiated. Visitation was Wednesday, March 4, from noon to 1 p.m. at Pepperell Baptist Church.
Mrs. Simpkins was a lifelong resident of Opelika, secretary at Pepperell Baptist Church for many years and a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Simpkins was born March 16, 1930, in Coffee County. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Jack R. Simpkins (1999); her parents, Joseph A. Baggs and Gladys M. Griffin; son, Jerry Simpkins (1986); grandson, Michael Stanfield (2013); and sister, Anita W. Sellers.
She is survived by her children Jackie (Tommy) Anderson of Hoover and Stephen (Missy) Simpkins of Opelika; grandchildren, Creig (Christy) Stanfield of Birmingham, Eric Stanfield of Hoover, Robert Simpkins, Brian Simpkins, Jared Simpkins, Sean Simpkins and Amanda (Wes) McCollough of Opelika, Alan Simpkins of Jonesborough, Tenn., Jason Mann of Auburn, Matt Simpkins in US Air Force and Brett (Heather) Anderson of Gardendale; great-grandchildren, Alex, Andrew and Jack Stanfield, Natalie, Mallory and Marin Simpkins, Jordan and Jay Mann and Isabella, Isaac, Isaiah, and Ian Anderson; one brother, Marion (Erma) Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two sisters, Barbara Bernhart of Satallite Beach, Fla., and Molly Burton, Alabaster.
The family expresses love and appreciation to Ms. Simpkins’ three special caregivers, Shirley Dumas, Jeannette Lewis and Sabrina Harris.
