MSGT Charles
Willard Dollar, Jr.
Master Sergeant Charles Willard Dollar Jr., of Opelika, died March 18 at Columbus Medical Center, Columbus, Ga., after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Dollar Eastep.
MSGT Dollar was born in Roanoke Dec. 18, 1934, to Charles Willard Dollar Sr., and Christine Dollar. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division, serving two tours in Vietnam. After his retirement he taught Junior ROTC at Joliet High School, Joliet, Ill., and at Auburn High School, Auburn. He was a devoted fan of the Auburn University football team and spent many fall afternoons cheering for his beloved Tigers in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Dollar; son Charles (Chip) Dollar, III, of Lincolnton, Ga.; grandchildren, Grant Oberg, Allyson Edwards, Tyler Edwards, Tiffany Dollar, Michael Dollar, and Steven Dollar; great-grandchildren, Carter Edwards and Harper Edwards, who he admired and loved spending time with.
MSGT Dollar was an avid gardener and always maintained the prettiest yard in his neighborhood. He also enjoyed traveling the world with his wife.
The family will have a celebration of life ceremony in Destin, Fla., at a later date.

Joseph Faulcon
Judkins, Jr.
Joseph Faulcon Judkins, Jr., of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, March 18. He was 76 years old.
He was born May 12, 1938, in Surry, Va. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1961. While at Tech, he was a squadron commander in the Corps of Cadets and was a member of the Pershing Rifles. After serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to VPI to earn his doctorate in civil engineering in 1967.
He was a professor of civil engineering at Auburn University from 1967-1981.
He was an executive vice president of Paul B. Krebs and Associates in Birmingham from 1981-1990. He returned to Auburn University as director of the Water Resources Research Institute and then served as head of the Department of Civil Engineering from 1993 until his retirement in 2002.
Joe was an avid golfer and shot his age when he was 74 and 76. He loved the Auburn Tigers and the Virginia Tech Hokies. He was a loving husband and father, and his grandchildren were the light of his life.
He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Faulcon Judkins Sr., and Annie Gwaltney Judkins.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Smith Judkins; daughters, Cathy (Ken) Stephens of Atlanta, Ga., Kim (Kevin) McKinney of Mobile and Amy (Jim) Himmelwright of Auburn; grandchildren, Meghan (Allan) McKinney Jones, Grace McKinney, Alex Stephens, Ro Himmelwright and Himmelwright; and sister, Norma (Jim) Pennington.
A celebration of his life was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn with Father Geoff Evans officiating. Visitation was held after the service in the Parish Hall.

Tammy Sharpe Sanford
Funeral service for Tammy S. Sanford, 43, of Auburn, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Chaplain Laura Eason and Dr. Rusty Sowell officiated. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sanford passed away at East Alabama Medical Center on March 19. She was born July 18, 1971, in Atwater, Calif. Mrs. Sanford had been a resident of Auburn for the past 21 years. She was employed by Auburn Bank, where she was a supervisor of the Loan Department. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church of Dadeville. She was also a loving mother, wife, and daughter.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Sanford, and son Peyton Sanford of Auburn; and parents, David and Judy Sharpe of Waverly.

Charles F. Gulley
Funeral service for Charles F. Gulley, 77, of Opelika, was held at 2 p.m. March 23 at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Pastor Dan Hill officiated.
Visitation was from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. Burial was in Garden Hills Cemetery.
Mr. Gulley passed away at Bethany House in Auburn on March 14. He was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Toccoa County, Ga.
Mr. Gulley had been a resident of Opelika since 1979. He was retired from Craftmaster Printers with over 25 years of service. Mr. and Mrs. Gulley were members of the Living Church of God in Columbus, Ga., where he served as a Deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Chester Gulley; two daughters, Teresa Gulley of Opelika and Shari (Mark) Swann of Marietta, Ga.; two sons, Charles M. “Mickey” Gulley of Atlanta and Aaron (Pat) Gulley of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family extends their appreciation to the personnel of East Alabama Medical Center, Bethany House and Dr. Keith Fuller and his staff.

Ann Gilmore Woodall
Ann Gilmore Woodall, 64, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, March 17, in Lee County. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Ret. Colonel Thomas
(Tom) Holt McCormick
Memorial service for Ret. Colonel Thomas (Tom) Holt McCormick of Auburn is Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m., Trinity United Methodist Church, Opelika. The Rev. Earl Ballard is officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
Mr. McCormick, who died on March 10 in Columbus, Ga., was born in Hinton, W.Va., on April 15, 1937. He was raised by his school-teaching parents Mac and Martha McCormick in West Virginia. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958 and received his master’s degree from the University of Missouri. Tom served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, and his career field was missiles.
Upon his service retirement, he continued working with missiles in Huntsville, finishing at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. Later he became a United Nations weapons inspector and traveled to Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction.
As a civilian, he headed up the Hancock County Food Pantry in Mississippi. Tom loved his country and his church, where he ran the We Care Ministry. He was involved with Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Auburn teaching history classes. He enjoyed gardening, his dog, his family and Auburn sports. His was a life of service.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Sally, daughters Lea McCormick of Los Angeles and Kate McCormick of Minneapolis, son Cary McCormick of Phoenix and two grandsons, Austin and Chase.
