The Dream Day Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization in partnership with McDonald’s of Auburn, Opelika, Shorter and Tuskegee, Kroger, Inc., Harris Funeral Home, Inc. and Opelika City Council, is in the planning stages of its 22nd annual celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr. Due to COVID-19, this year’s celebration will be a virtual production for the welfare of all involved. This year’s Zoom event will be produced by community youth in safe and secure environments. The hope is that more households in and outside the Lee County area will be reached.

The organization will honor Dr. King’s legacy with the theme #URMYHERO and recognize some local heroes. A #URMYHERO will be created for young people to honor their own personal hero via Zoom. The celebration will be held via Zoom on Jan. 18, 2021, from 11 a.m. to noon and remain on YouTube for the public to view. A free link will be published for all who wish to join this celebration. We will once again reveal the recipient of the 2021 Dream Achiever Award and announce the winners of our 2021 Dream Day Scholarships for high school seniors wishing to further their education.
