Opelika moves to weekly recycling curbside pickup

CONTRIBUTED BY CITY OF OPELIKA

OPELIKA — Opelika Environmental Services (OES) has announced an important change to the city’s recycling program: To provide a more streamlined and consistent recycling service for all residents, recycling will now be collected every week, five days a week, with pick-up days determined by ward, as follows:
Monday: Ward 1
Tuesday: Ward 2
Wednesday: Ward 3
Thursday: Ward 4
Friday: Ward 5
Note: This new recycling pickup schedule does NOT change garbage or trash/yard waste pickup.
Officials emphasize the importance of following all recycling rules to help prevent contamination. Contaminated recycling can lead to entire loads being discarded, which defeats the purpose of efforts to reduce waste and protect the environment.
