Auburn Parks and Recreation hosted Therapeutic Club Gallery Night, a celebration of creativity and artistic expression by members of the Therapeutic Recreation Art Club and Clay Club. The event was held Dec. 12 at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center (JDCAC), where guests enjoyed a showcase of artwork, including clay creations and art projects, while sipping refreshments in a welcoming environment. The Auburn Parks and Recreation Therapeutics Program offers recreational activities, programs/leagues, social activities and field trips for citizens with special needs. Therapeutic program offerings are a wonderful way for children, teens and adults with a medically-diagnosed cognitive inpairment to meet new people, learn skills and socialize in a structured environment. TR programs include summer camps, and in the fall, the program hosted events such as a Therapeutics Prom, electronic and board game nights, Hip Hop dance classes, the Creative Writing Club, movie day and Special Olympics training. This winter, programs will include dance, karate and songwriting classes.
