EAST ALABAMA — The East Alabama Community Foundation (EACF) hosted its Community Trust Grants Presentation on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Opelika Public Library. A total of $30,525.21 was awarded to local nonprofits. This event highlighted EACF’s commitment to supporting local organizations and initiatives that make a meaningful difference in East Alabama communities. The Community Trust Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations addressing critical needs and opportunities in the region. This year’s recipients are pictured below.
$2,250 to Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Foundation to pay for the ASL instructors/interpreters and supplies for the AIDB Opelika Regional Center Summer ASL Bootcamp.
$2,775 to The D.A.C. Way to fund the teach for 12 months in Loachapoka, provide Spanish language material for 25 students in Loachapoka as part of the After-School Tutoring and Reading Club.
$2,200 to Created with a Purpose to provide funding to educate, encourage and expose the teens to countless opportunities and careers to inspire them to want to dream about a better future.
$3,000 to LaFayette Main Street to complete a mural in Downtown LaFayette.
$2,660 to Redeeming Grace Ministries to support the costs of curriculum supplies to train and equip people to live a life of everlasting recovery.
$2,515 to Southern Preparatory Academy to support the modernization and repair of Southern Preparatory Academy’s existing Ranger Trail, a vital component of our JROTC Program.
$1,625 to Elizabeth’s Place to provide funds for a new computer, cell phones, minute cards and legal fees to be used by the women receiving services for domestic abuse.
$3,000 to Mercy Medical Ministries to provide patient transportation for appointments and provide home blood pressure monitors.
$3,000 to The Nourish Foundation to provide weekly fresh product box deliveries to food insecure families in Lee County.
$1,500 to Quiet Storm Outreach Group to support the costs of outreach to panhandlers in Lee and Tallapoosa Counties. To provide them with basic needs items such as non-perishable food, clothing, blankets, socks, shoes, hygiene and toiletry items.
$3,000 to Rape Counselors of East Alabama to help them respond to victims of sexual violence in a trauma-informed way, providing victims with clothing and other necessary resources when leaving the hospital, and continuing to accompany survivors to medical, legal and other related services needed as a result of their assault, as well as providing crisis counseling and long-term counseling.
$3,000 to Tri-County Children’s Advocacy Center to provide financial assistance to provide direct services to alleged victims of child abuse and/or assault.
