The Opelika Lady Bulldog varsity flag football team defeated the 2021 7A state-runner-up Smiths Station Panthers, 20-0, to open their 2022 campaign. With the loss, Smiths Station move to 3-1. Since then, Opelika won its second game, 40-0, over Loachapoka, and lost its third, 7-6, to Central Phenix City.
