Opelika Dixie Youth Baseball Heads to State

The Opelika Dixie Youth All-Star teams competed in the State Tournaments last week. The Ozone all-stars (11-to-12 year olds) beat Auburn twice, 10-6 and 10-0 (4-inning run rule) at Duck Samford Park last weekend. 

Caleb Peoples hit a homerun in game one to lead the offense. Defensively, Carson Holcey-Billingsley and Will Brandon combined to pitch six innings for the Opelika all-stars.

Game two pitchers, Will Brandon and Logan Childree, combined to allow one hit to earn the win. Opelika advances to the Ozone State Tournament July 9 in Andalusia.

Opelika’s minor league (9-to-10 year olds) all-stars went 1-1 at the District Tournament, advancing to the State Tournament on July 9 in Greenville.  Opelika beat Auburn Blue, 22-9, in game one and lost, 8-11, to Auburn Orange in the second game.

OPELIKA DIXIE BOYS ALL-STARS

The Opelika Dixie Boys Baseball League announced the 14U all-star team last week. The team will play in the State Tournament, July 9 at West Ridge Park. The eight-team, double-elimination bracket will be finalized in the coming days.

The following are members of the DBB 14U all-star team: Jonathan Caufield, Noah Childree, Hunter Crews, Camden Dunson, Chris Floyd, Jaxson Gaither, Carter Green, Jackson Lee, Warner McDonald, Allen Owen, Bennett Young, TJ Arnold and Landon Childree. Manager Derek Lee, assistants Michael McDonald and Allen Owen.

The winner of the State Tournament advances to the World Series, July 23 in Sterlinton, Louisianna.
