As business hours are changing here in Lee County because of COVID-19, the Lee County Revenue Commissioner Offices continue to serve the community and are open during this time. Their offices are fully operational, however, the doors are locked with a deputy outside to let individuals inside accordingly as occupancy adjustments have been made throughout the state. The Lee County Revenue Commissioner has offices located in Opelika, Auburn and Smiths Station.
Each office is limiting transactions to one person per clerk and are asking individuals not to bring a lot of people with them, as they’ll have to remain outside while business is conducted in the office.
“If your motor vehicle registration renews in March the deadline for registration renewal without penalty has been extended through April 15, 2020,” said Lee County Revenue Commissioner Oline Price. “This extension includes the registration of vehicles purchased during the period of March 17, 2020 through April 15, 2020.”
Price encourages all Lee County citizens to use the mail to renew registration or to pay online directly through their website, however, with website payments, standard credit fees are not able to be removed since it comes directly from the credit card services rather than the Lee County offices.
“We are here and we are open, we want to make this as convenient for our customers as possible, but comply with the government and state regulations during this time,” Price added.
Opelika and Auburn Satellite office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Smiths Station Satellite office hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.
