A new student intern has joined the Opelika Observer; Sara Wilson, a junior at Auburn University from Grove Hill, Alabama, will be working as an intern with the paper for this spring semester.
Wilson studied political science as a freshman at Auburn but changed her major to journalism with a minor in business. Along with this internship and taking three classes at Auburn, she is currently studying for the LSAT.
“If I go to law school, I want to study media law, so with an undergraduate degree in journalism and getting to participate in this internship, it’ll give me a background to see this side of things,” Wilson said.
The only law school she has ruled out in these nascent stages is the University of Alabama’s. She grew up an Alabama fan and planned to attend the university until her sophomore year of high school, when a visit to The Plains flipped her allegiance.
Wilson loves Disney World and the beach, so it is no surprise that one of her favorite movies is The Little Mermaid. When in town, she enjoys attending Auburn gymnastics meets, going out with friends or perusing social media. She has recently taken up cooking as a hobby but declines to claim any signature dish yet.
Wilson will be contributing to the Opelika Observer with a wide range of articles, and she is most interested in writing personality profiles.
