If you were late or if you blinked you might have missed this week’s regular Lee County Commission meeting. The combination of a very short agenda and the lack of any controversial items made for a very short session.
Two new positions on the East Alabama Health Care Board were announced, in accordance with regulations. First reading, or the nominations, for these vacancies will take place at the first August meeting and voting for the nominees will take place at the second August meeting.
First reading took place for three vacancies on the Lee County E-911 Board. Actually these were renominations of three incumbents: George Dyar, Anne Grady and LeeRoy Kelley. Two bids were approved for the Highway Department, for surface treatment and for full depth reclamation.
The next commission meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on July 27 at the newly expanded Justice Center in the Grand Jury Room on the second floor. There will be a ribbon cutting for the new part of the facility at 4:45 p.m., followed by a brief tour.
