A funeral service for Kay Skaggs, 92, of Auburn will be held at 2 p.m. on Oc. 21, 2011, at Pearson’s Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky. Burial will be held in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pearson’s Funeral Home.
Skaggs was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Louisville, Ky. She passed away on Oct. 16, 2011 at her home in Auburn. She was a longtime resident of Louisville, Ky. until moving to Auburn after the death of her husband, James E. Skaggs, DMD. A gifted pianist, Kay studied music at Mary Baldwin and graduated from the University of Kentucky. Kay and Jimmy enjoyed fishing, playing golf and travel. In recent years, Kay was blessed with many new friends at Monarch Estates and was thrilled to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Hadley) Hury of Memphis, Tenn., Kathy Skaggs of Ypsilanti, Miss., Dr. Patricia (Clay) Humphries of Opelika; grandchildren, Hudson Adams of Atlanta, Peter Adams of Nashville, Tenn., Clayton and Kathryn Humphries of Opelika; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son.
