A funeral service for Sara Martin Jordan Hood was held at 3 p.m. on Jan. 11, at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Burial was held in Garden Hills Cemetery. Reverends Tom Grantham and Jeremy Deaton officiated.

Visitation was at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home in Opelika one hour prior to the service.
Hood was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Ashland, Ala. She died Jan. 9, 2012, in Auburn.
Hood was preceded in death by her parents, S.P. and Fanny Martin; four sisters, Jane Martin Hardegree,

Grace Martin Hooton, Lillian Martin Phillips, and Mary Martin Franklin; husbands, Levert Jordan and Willard Hood; and special grandson, Joseph L. Jordan, Jr.

Hood is survived by daughter Barbara Jordan Vasta (Nick) or Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; daughter June Jordan Carter of Auburn; daughter Mary Jordan Bohler (Bill) of Auburn; and son Joseph L. Jordan, Sr. (Gail) of Opelika; stepson Harold Hood (Roberta) of Boise Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, seven great, great grandchildren and many close friends from the Lake Martin community as well as her friends at Pentecost United Methodist Church in Dadeville and Farmville Baptist Church in Auburn and Purpose Baptist Church in Opelika.

Hood was a graduate of Clay County High School in Ashland, Ala. and of Massey-Draughon Business College in Tupelo, Miss. She retired from Ampex Corporation in Opelika and moved to Lake Martin where she resided until moving to Auburn to live with her daughter three years ago.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Purpose Baptist Church in Opelika or to Pentecost United Methodist Church in Dadeville, Ala.
