Opelika High School Senior Kevin Lazenby has been named a National Merit Finalist in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Lazenby will continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered in the spring.
Kevin is the son of Dr. Allen and Dr. Shirley Lazenby of Opelika.  His activities at Opelika High School include serving as SGA President, Mu Alpha Theta President and Rho Kappa President.  Lazenby is also a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the OHS Cross Country Team, 2014 All-State Cross Country Team Member and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Lazenby plans to attend Vanderbilt University and major in biomedical engineering.
