James Blake Mayfield, 70, of Selma, formerly of Opelika, passed away on Dec. 9, 2011, in Selma.

Mayfield was born in Opelika to J.C. Mayfield and the late Iris Mann Mayfield. He attended Clift High School and graduated from Auburn University. He and his wife, Pat, moved to Selma in 1998 where he was employed by and retired from Bush Hog Corporation as an engineering manager. Blake was an avid golfer and a major fan of Auburn football.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Mayfield Kinsey Smith; mother, Iris Mann Mayfield and a sister, June Mayfield.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Morris Mayfield of Selma, a daughter, Pam Mayfield Adcock of Opelika, a son, Jeff Mayfield of Ridgeland, Miss., three grandchildren, Casaundra Mayfield, Spencer and Sydney Adcock, his father, J.C. Mayfield of Opelika, and two sisters, Judy (Ellis) Burgess of Decatur and Bonnie (Chic) Montgomery of Vale, Ariz.

A funeral service was held on Dec. 13, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home (Chapel) in Opelika. Reverends Ben Keeble and Ted Prince officiated. Burial followed at Rosemere Cemetery in Opelika. Visitation was on Dec. 12, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home directed.
