Alesia Harvey Witherspoon 1970-2012

 

A funeral service for Alesia Harvey Witherspoon, 42, of Cusseta, will be held on March 2, at 11 a.m. at Peterson and Williams Chapel with interment in Garden Hills Cemetery. Rev. Steven Carson will officiate.

Witherspoon passed on Feb. 23, in Opelika. About 11 years ago, she moved to the Lee County area from Warren, Ohio.

Survivors include her three sons, LeShawn Harvey, Auburn, Demtrious Newell and Derrick Newell both of Cusseta; a grandson, Quashawn Harvey, Auburn; her mother, Barbara Strickland, Cusseta;  three brothers, Timothy (Jan) Harvey, Las Vegas, Nev., LeSaun Harvey, Warren, Ohio and Lamont Prothro, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a special cousin, Kimyata Evans, Warren, Ohio;  special friends Darrell Melson and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Rogers all of Cusseta; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Michael (Mickey) Wayde Pugh, Sr. 1948-2012

 

Michael (Mickey) Wayde Pugh, Sr., age 63, died at EAMC on Feb. 26. He was born on Sept. 24, 1948, in Meridian, Miss. Pugh lived in Opelika and worked in the grocery business for 40 years until retiring in 2006. He was a devoted father, grandfather and husband. A humble man of few words, loving the simple joys of life, especially fishing. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was his greatest joy.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Patricia A. Pugh of Opelika; daughter, Callie L. Lindsey and her husband, Lee Lindsey; son, Michael W. Pugh II and his wife, Kelly Sanders Pugh; stepdaughter, Amy E. Hamilton; grandchildren, Megan L. Pugh, Josie T. Lindsey, William M. Lindsey, and Cassie A.M. Lindsey. Mike was also survived by his brother, Kevin L. Pugh, and his nephews Christopher L. Pugh, Matthew A. Pugh, Andrew D. Pugh and John C. Pugh; as well as his first wife, Priscilla S. Pugh of Opelika. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Conrad Augustus Pugh and his mother, Annie Lee Clayton.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on March 1, at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Reverend Tommy Howze officiated. Burial was held at Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

 

 

Billy Joe Baker 1963-2012

 

Billy Joe Baker, age 49, of Lanett passed away on Feb. 22 at Bethany House in Auburn.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 26 at Restoration Church in Auburn. Reverend Mark Jenkins officiated. Visitation was held at the church following the service.

Deborah Ivey White 1961-2012

 

A funeral service for Deborah Ivey White, age 50, of Opelika was held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 29, at Jeffcoat-Trant Chapel. Reverend Charlie Bolt officiated. Burial was held in Garden Hills Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

White was born on Nov. 4, 1961, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She passed away on Feb. 26, at Bethany House in Auburn. Her father was in the military so she had lived in several places while growing up. White served in the U.S. Air Force during Desert Storm. She retired with 10 years service. She had lived several years in Enterprise and the last four years in Opelika. White attended the Opelika Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arlen Ivey and her sister, Gaye Fletcher.

Survivors include daughter, Taylor Willis of Opelika; son, Joshua Small of West Virginia; parents, Wallace and Violet Garrett of Opelika; two sisters, Sheryl Miller of Springfield, Mo., Vickie Ivey of Smith Station; two grandchildren, Zoie Small and Zarah Small; and several nieces and nephews.
