In an abbreviated meeting Tuesday, the Opelika City Council addressed its routine business.
Council members approved annual appropriations for the following organizations:
– Alabama Council on Human Relations, Inc., in the amount of $20,000.
– East Alabama Healthcare Authority for emergency rescue services and ambulance transport serves in the amounts of $261,000 for operational funds and $28,000 in capital funds.
– East Alabama Services for the Elderly in the amount of $10,000.
– The Museum of East Alabama in the amount of $300. The funds will be used to bus citizens to the annual Victorian Front Porch Tour and came from Council President Eddie Smith’s discretionary fund.
The council also approved a lease agreement between the city and Envision Opelika, Inc. and the Arts Association of East Alabama for the property at 1103 Glenn Street, which was the old Southside school.
The council will reconvene Dec. 15.
