Culpeper, Sr.

Edward Guy Culpeper, Sr. of Pepperell, Alabama, departed this earthly life for his Heavenly Home on October 4, 2017. Born in Sylacauga, Alabama, on July 19, 1935, Ed was the son of William and Alma Culpeper.
Ed is survived by his lovely bride of 51 years, Lillie Grace (Cole) Culpeper; their son, Edward Guy Culpeper, Jr. (Terry – Lanett, AL); four stepchildren, Terry Austin Ramsey (Kathryn – Athens, AL), William Randall Berkshire (deceased), Cynthia Lynn Scebra (Jack – Helena, AL), and Rose Marion Battle (Archie – Gardendale, AL); seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Ed retired from West Point Pepperell in 2005 after 48 years of service. Ed and Lillie attended Heritage Baptist Church. During his retirement, Ed enjoyed walking, amateur radio, gardening, Alabama football, and working Sudoku puzzles.
One could usually find Ed on his front porch, enjoying the fresh air and watching hummingbirds at the feeder. Known for his stories of life “back in the day” and his arsenal of brain-teasers and puzzles, Ed’s grandchildren never lacked for entertainment.
Funeral services and visitation was on Friday, October 6, 2017. Visitation was held from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Thad Endicott officiated.
Interment followed in Garden Hills Cemetery.
