Funeral service for Arthur Wayne Goodman of Opelika, AL, was Saturday, October 21st, at 11:00 a.m. at 10th Street Church of Christ in Opelika. Burial was in Andalusia, AL. Visitation was Saturday at 10:00 a.m. preceding the service. Mr. Goodman, who died Wednesday, October 18th, was born June 23rd, 1941, in Covington County, AL.
Wayne Goodman lived a life devoted to his family and to God. In addition to his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Wayne served as an Elder in his church for over 30 years. He was fiercely loyal to his loved ones and his values, always doing his best to serve the Lord by loving his neighbor and putting others before himself. He enjoyed fishing, taking naps, and spoiling his eight grandchildren to the disappointment of their parents. His favorite color was Alabama Crimson—and he never let his family forget it. Wayne, also known as “Pop” to his family and friends, was a bright spot in the lives of all who met him, and that light will shine on for years to come.
He is survived by wife, Ginger Goodman; daughter, Carol Gudauskas (Tom); sons, Connon Goodman (Debra) and Parker Goodman (Emily); sisters, Elizabeth Coxwell (Jimmy), Hazel McClain (B.J.), and Faye Greenhill (Henry); sister-in-law, Brenda Goodman; grandchildren, Ashley Blakey, Lydia Sinor (Winston), Hannah Gudauskas, Trey Goodman, Lizzie Goodman, Nolan Goodman, Sarah Gudauskas, and Paul Goodman; and a multitude of nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to 10th Street Church of Christ, 500 North 10th Street, Opelika, AL 36801, in honor of Wayne Goodman.
