Scott Robert
Crouse

Scott Robert Crouse, Esq., passed away on Sunday evening, March 5, 2017, at East Alabama Medical Center. Scott was 39 years old. Mr. Crouse was born in Opelika on April 17, 1977, to Dr. David Barr Crouse of Auburn and Rita Ellison Crouse of Flagstaff, Arizona. He graduated from Opelika High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Auburn University, a Law degree from Tulane University, and a Masters in Tax Law from the University of Miami. He then clerked for Judge Walker and practiced law for a short time in Phoenix City: eventually he maintained a law office with the current Alabama State Senator, Tom Whatley. Scott had a dry wit that was distinctive, and his family was entertained many times by what they lovingly call his “Scottisms.” He will be dearly missed by all his family, and especially his dad who has cared for him every day during the last year. Even though Scott was physically handicapped from birth, he achieved much through determination, strength and independence. Scott was an avid gamer and had a weekly poker group where he regularly ran the table. He also enjoyed watching old classic and sci-fi movies. He is survived by his father, David Crouse (Carolyn Horner); his mother, Rita Crouse; his older brother of Madison, AL, Andy Crouse (Leigh Jacobsen); his younger sister of Opelika, AL, Joanna Flannagan (Kevin); one stepbrother from Alexandria, TN, Christian Horner(Lindsay Ryan); two stepsisters, Jennifer (Horner) Rangel (Ramon) from Tupelo, MS, and Lindsey Horner from Nashville, TN. He is also survived by several uncles and aunts, 7 nephews and 5 nieces, and many extended family. The memorial service was held at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home in Opelika at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 10th. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to an agency for research into wound healing. Follow the link below for information:
