The 12th annual Garden in the Park event, Opelika’s premiere arts and crafts festival, will be held May 6 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. in Municipal Park.
The family-fun day will feature 50 vendors selling their handmade or homegrown wares and plants, rides on the Rocky Brook Rocket, moonwalks, Farmer Brown’s Petting Zoo and entertainment from OCS students on the park’s mainstage.
“Besides being a fundraiser for us, with all of the money going back into the community, it’s also an opportunity for the community to come together. It’s a great way to see friends, and meet new people,” said KOB Director Tipi Miller. “We have a lot of people who travel into Opelika for the event … we receive calls from surrounding areas (like) Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery and all over the area who are interested in attending the event.”
Food will also be available for purchase, ranging from hamburgers and hotdogs to cotton candy and candied apples.
Event admission is free, however participants are asked to bring at least one canned food item, which will be donated to the Food Bank of East Alabama, and to leave their pets at home.
