Ford McKenzie MacElvain, 90, of Opelika, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.  Visitation was 12:00 noon-2:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. A graveside service followed at 2:00 p.m. in Gardens Hills Cemetery. If a memorial donation is desired, it may be made to East Alabama Food Bank, 375 Industry Drive, Auburn, AL 36832
Mr. MacElvain was born in Birmingham, AL, on June 22, 1926 to Pauline and Ford MacElvain. He was educated at The Webb School, Bell Buckle, TN; attended Howard College (later Samford University), and graduated from Auburn University.  He was an entrepreneur for many years, notably as the founding president of DeepRock Manufacturing Co., a water-well drilling business.
He is survived by his brother, Robert C. MacElvain of Eufaula, AL; two nieces, Leslie M. Huckaby and Ellen M. Rhett, both of Mountain Brook, AL; two great-nieces and a great nephew; cousin, Edward Pattillo of Montgomery, AL; and best friend and caregiver, Keith Johnson of Opelika AL.
