The Martha Wayles Jefferson Chapter of DAR met in a lunch meeting Wednesday, September 23, at Saugahatchee Country Club. Robert H. Cochran, Commander, United States Navy, retired, was their speaker.
Cochran is a graduate of Auburn University (BS), Webster College (MA), and Cumberland Law School (JD), and now practices law in Auburn. His presentation of “Perspectives on the Constitution” was very informative and thought-provoking.
Daughters of the American Revolution is celebrating the 125th anniversary of its founding and the amazing women who have built the organization to what it is today. DAR and the local Martha Wayles Jefferson Chapter are always seeking new members who are interested in serving God and country.
Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join the DAR.
She must provide documentation for each statement of birth, marriage and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of her patriot ancestor.
