NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND COMMENT

The City of Opelika will hold a Public Hearing at 4:00pm on Monday, July 15, 2013, in the Planning Commission Chambers at the Public Works Facility, 700 Fox Trail, Opelika to discuss the proposed amendments to the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) Annual Action Plans for PY2009, 2010, and 2011.  The proposed amendment will include reallocation of $33,613.78 in unspent funds from Administration and Public Services to more timely activities which may include, but are not limited to the Down Payment Assistance, Emergency Home Repair and Main Street Façade Programs.

Public participation and comment is invited either in writing or in person. A copy of the PY2013 Action Plan is available at the Opelika Public Library at 200 South 6th St., City Hall at 204 S. 7th St., or the Public Works Facility at 700 Fox Trail. Comments and concerns can be forwarded to the address mentioned at the end of this notice.

ANNUAL ACTION PLAN PY2013

The City of Opelika will hold a public hearing at 4:00pm on Monday, July 17, 2013 at the Public Works Facility’s Planning Chambers, 700 Fox Trail for citizen input and questions concerning PY2013 Action Plan activities which is currently in progress. For each year of the Five Year Consolidated Plan, an Annual Action Plan must be developed to identify programs and projects that the City intends to accomplish. The programs and projects are funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program through the U. S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). The City will receive $225,410 in the 2013 Program Year. The Program Year begins October 1, 2013 and ends September 30, 2014, concurrent with the City of Opelika Fiscal Year 2013.

The 2013 Action Plan portion of the Consolidated Plan details the programs and projects that are proposed for funding. Supposing continued funding of present operations (with adjustments based on funding fluctuation) the below potential activities have been provided:
