The Opelika High School Athletic Department is continuing with summer workouts.

The entire athletic department will take the next two weeks off for the Fourth of July holiday. This will give the student athletes and coaches a little time to enjoy the summer with family.

The football team traveled to Enterprise yesterday for a two-day camp with Enterprise and Fairhope. The teams will have seven-on-seven competition as well as conditioning and will stay together in the gym at Enterprise High School.

Assistant head football coach and head wrestling coach Ryan Thompson has accepted a job at Gulf Shores High School. Thompson re-started the wrestling program at OHS in 2004 and was named assistant head football coach last year. He and his wife, Nicole will move to the coast soon.

Good luck to the Thompson family.

Coach Blackmon has already started looking for coach Thompson’s replacement.

The OMS, OHS-JV and OHS cheerleaders traveled to Edgewater Beach Resort at Panama City, Fla., last week for Cheer Camp. Over 550 cheerleaders attended the camp from all over the south.
